The Alchi Chos Khor Temple is an ancient Buddhist monastery located in the Alchi village of Leh district in Ladakh, India. It is a part of the three monasteries that constitute the Alchi group of monuments and is known for its unique art and architecture.
The temple was built in the 11th century and is one of the oldest monasteries in the region. The complex consists of several temples, including the Dukhang (assembly hall), Sumtseg (three-storeyed temple), and the Manjushri Temple.
Intricate murals and frescoes that depict the lives of Buddha, Hindu deities, and numerous other spiritual and legendary figures cover the walls of the temples. The temple's carvings and sculptures are also impressive, and their design combines Tibetan and Indian influences.
A distinctive spiritual experience is provided by the temple's calm environment and the mountains that surround it. The temple is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Alchi Chos Khor Temple is open for visitors from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm and from 02:00 pm to 06:00 pm. The temple remains open all days of the week.

How to Reach:
About 70 kilometres separate Leh from the Alchi Monastery. Hiring a cab from Leh is the most effective way to go to the monastery. To get to the monastery, one can alternatively rent a car or a bicycle. One may take in the stunning scenery along the route on the lovely roads that lead to the monastery.
